Wearing a uniform at Oxhill Nursery School is not compulsory. However, recent feedback from parents has suggested that due to the range of messy activities we offer, they prefer their children to wear a cheap uniform as opposed to their good clothes.
Should you choose to dress your child in uniform, jumpers and cardigans can be purchased from any local supermarket and are very reasonably priced.
Please be aware however, that each classroom wears different colours:
- All preschool children in Butterfly, Dragonfly and Bumblebee wear blue jumpers
- Grasshopper children wear green jumpers
- Our two-year-olds do not need to wear a particular colour jumper
We do encourage children to be independent with their clothing and shoes and it is important that the children are able to remove their clothes when they need the toilet.
Children tend to have more toileting accidents when wearing dungarees, onesies or trousers with belts. All clothing should be named, especially jumpers. We ask you to provide a full change of clothing for your child, a pair of Wellingtons and a sun hat, to be kept at nursery, in the drawstring bag provided on your child’s peg. The bags are to be left on their pegs at all times.
We work closely with parents to support toilet training but accidents do occur and these are dealt with quietly and sympathetically.
To ensure your child stays safe when moving around nursery or using the outdoor area we ask you to ensure that your children always wear sensible shoes or trainers and not slip on sandals or high heels. Shoes with velcro are much easier for your child to be able to manage independently, as opposed to shoes with laces or buckles.
If you would like any additional information please contact the school.
